A New Faust
Last night was the premiere of a new production of Gounoud’s Faust, an opera that coincidentally opened the old met so long ago. I was listening away all night as many other fans. It was an interesting performance.
I saw Jonas Kaufman at La Scala in February as Cavaradossi in Tosca. (Another production the Met exchanged) I didn’t like him then, I didn’t like him in the ROH...

Review
I’ll be posting a review tomorrow afternoon. Too tired to post one after the opera.

La Fausteme
So, I promised I would have a review of La Boheme by this afternoon. I figured that since I’m talking about Faust tonight, I’ll condense the two posts into one.
La Boheme always astounds me at how fast it moves. Time flies when you’re having fun. I felt that the two leads couldn’t sing over the orchestra(Which was in tip, top shape) They were straining to reach high...
La Boheme
Expect a review of La Boheme tomorrow afternoon. I’m going to listen to the rest of the opera from my bed (I have a desktop, not a laptop). This has been a static night of opera.

Ughh!!!!!!!!!!
So, while Opera Teen was at his band concert, La Boheme didn’t record correctly. I was able to backtrack to Mimi’s entrance in Act I…. So I’m listening to that now…. Im bummed… Super bummed.
Puccini the Ladies Man
So, in the spirit of La Boheme this week, and Madama Butterfly in December, let’s talk about the celebrated composer Giacomo Puccini.
For all of the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD Broadcasts, there is a singer in the beginning who tells you who’s singing, director, sets and costumes and the main idea of the opera. I personally think Renee Fleming is the best host, with Susan...
Vittoria!
So, I have previously mentioned that I play the trumpet. This afternoon, I just realized that my trumpet concert was during La Boheme, one of the operas I have been most looking forward to reviewing this season… But, I found a way to record it and listen to it later! I promise there will be a review of La Boheme on Monday, and certainly Faust on Tuesday. It’s going to be an opera...
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving my loyal subjects ;). Just kidding. I’m thankful for you this year. I appreciate everyone who takes time out of their day to be a part of my life. Thank you.
There’s much to be thankful about in opera this year, so I’ll name three of the things I’m most thankful for.
1. Anna Bolena at The Met
I am thankful for Anna Bolena this year. It was a...
Sorry About That...
I’m so sorry to let anybody down who was hoping for a La Boheme review last night. Tuesday nights are just really busy for me. By the time I got home, the opera was over. I was super bummed out. I’m sorry about that.
I do have a feeling though, that we will have the opportunity to hear Boheme again soon. Sirius ran Nabucco at least four times (Probably more) this season, so I assume...
And They All Lived Happily Ever After...
So… Rodelinda just ended. Honestly, I was kind of bummed out. The lack of ensembles makes it hard to enjoy the opera. It slows it down. I also missed all the other instruments but technically they didn’t exist though so I’m sure people didn’t miss them at the premiere. You can’t miss what you don’t have.
Handel is a master composer. His legacy lives on...
Rodelinda vs. Theodelinda
So, last year my family and I took an amazing vacation to Italy. We went to Venice and Milan(Having been to Rome previously) And we had an amazing time!
My grandfather is Italian, in particular from Monza, a charming suburb outside of Milan, home to the vacation palace of the Italian king, when there was one. (No Berlusconi, Yeah!) So, one of Monza’s claims to fame, besides being at one...
Lincoln Center
Ciao. I just recently returned from a fun day at the Big Apple Circus, which is conveniently located right next to the Met… It goes without saying that I did anything to get a minute to stare at it or go inside.
So, my excursion started with going inside to register for the Student Ticket Program. They said I have to do it online, but the man on the phone said I had to do it in person....
Big News!
Opera Teen is in an insanely good mood! I just found the entire Anna Bolena performance online. The one I didn’t get a chance to review this season. I’ve already started watching it so a review will be coming soon! Rodelinda on Monday! Stay tuned!
Opera Teen
Sorry
Hi!
Sorry to disappoint again but I will not be able to review Satygraha this season. Thank you!

My Opera Pet Peeve!
As a modern day opera fan, I, like many others take advantage of the internet. I love the internet! It’s a great system, and when I want to see a piece of an opera, or search a specific singer or song, I can just plug youtube.com into my browser. It’s as easy as that! So, whenever I arrive at the page I want, I take a look at the comments. Here are some I get when I listen to a...
